CSNC and volunteers will be visiting the Barney Ridge area, off Omo Ranch Road, to block several unauthorized vehicle routes that are directly impacting a sensitive plant area on the Eldorado National Forest. We will be working to protect a lava cap that is home to many sensitive plant species, including mimulus pulchellas (purple and yellow flowers below).

Meet at the Placerville Raley’s parking lot at 9:00 a.m. or the Georgetown Library at 8:30 a.m. to carpool to the site. We will return before 5 p.m. It is likely to be a little chilly in the morning this time of year, so please bring a jacket and layer up! Bring a lunch, water bottle, sturdy shoes or boots, gloves, sun protection, and anything you might want for a day in the forest.

For more information, a map, or to coordinate travel plans, please email Kayla at kayla@sierranevadaconservation.org or call our office at 530-206-7061. Please RSVP to let us know if you are attending so we won’t leave without you!
