CSNC and volunteers will be working in the Sopiago watershed and Elkins Flat OHV area in the next few weeks to block several unauthorized vehicle routes that are directly impacting sensitive resources on the Eldorado National Forest. On Wednesday, June 1st, we’ll be restoring multiple sites near Sopiago Creek, including some hill climb shortcuts that are eroding soil into Sopiago Creek. On Thursday, June 9th we will be repairing resource damage at Elkins Flat OHV area.
Meet at the Georgetown Library at 8:30 a.m. or the Placerville Raley’s parking lot at 9:00 a.m. for any of the 3 dates to carpool to the site. Please RSVP to let us know if you are attending so we won’t leave without you! We will return by 5 p.m. The weather can be either warm or chilly this time of year, so dress accordingly. Bring plenty of sun protection, such as a hat and long sleeve shirts, water, a lunch, sturdy shoes or boots, gloves, and anything you might want for a day in the forest.
